Residents may now dispose of household hazardous wastes, including antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint, at the landfills in Moreno Valley and Beaumont.
The recently expanded household hazardous waste program will be available for free to Riverside County residents from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, according to a statement.
Previously, household hazardous wastes were collected one day a week.
Hazardous wastes from businesses and non-profits will not be accepted, according to the statement.
The Badlands Landfill is at 31125 Ironwood Ave. in Moreno Valley. The Lamb Canyon Landfill at 16411 Lamb Canyon Road in Beaumont. Both facilities are operated by the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources.
No more than 15 gallons, or 125 pounds, per vehicle will be accepted. Containers should not be larger than five gallons or weigh more than 50 pounds, according to the statement.
Funding for the expanded program is being provided by the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery.
