Riverside FD joins Xmas toy drive

The Riverside Fire Department has joined ABC7 and other Southern California fire departments to collect new, unwrapped toys, sports equipment, blankets and gift cards for underprivileged children and teens.

The Spark of Love toy drive, for infants to 16 year olds, is happening in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, Ventura and Riverside counties, according to a statement.

During the past 25 years, Spark of Love has collected more than nine million toys.

Donations can be made at any of Riverside’s 14 fire stations. The department hopes to present toys to 5,000 children this year.

To become a sponsor, or to request a donation box for your business contact Fire Marshal/Division Chief Jennifer McDowell at (951) 826-5737 or Fire Public Education Coordinator Gina Perez at (951) 826-5334.
