Riverside will start construction on its long-planned downtown museum later this month.
A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. June 27 at the future site of the Museum of Riverside, 3850 Mission Inn Ave., according to a statement on the city’s website.
The new museum will serve the community through modern infrastructure and expanded offerings. Guests at the groundbreaking will be able to meet the project team, view original building plans, and learn more about the vision behind the Museum of Riverside’s next chapter.
“Like so many fellow Riverside residents over the last century, I have fond childhood memories of the Museum of Riverside,” said Council member Philip Falcone, who represents the area, in the statement. “It is with great anticipation that we break ground on this long-awaited renovation and expansion to open wide the doors of a preserved and refreshed local museum for the next century.”
