San Bernardino receives federal transportation grant

Grant will help low-income nursing students at MSJC

The certified nursing program at Mt. San Jacinto College has received a $300,000 grant.

The $300,000 donation from the Arthur N. Rupe Foundation is the largest foundation grant the program has ever received, according to a statement on the school’s website.

The grant, called Removing Barriers, Ensuring Student Success, will be used to cover basic student expenses, including certification exam fees, textbooks, uniforms, and other mandatory items for individuals with financial needs.

“This is a powerful investment in the success of our students,” said Patricia McBee, nursing associate instructor. “It eases their financial burden, and it allows them to focus fully on their training and future careers in healthcare.”

Based in Santa Barbara, the Arthur N. Rupe Foundation provides grants to certified nursing programs at community colleges throughout California, according to statement.
