John Shoemaker, manager of the Ontario Tower Buzzers, has had the team’s clubhouse named after him.
The Single-A minor league affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers announced The John Shoemaker Clubhouse during a surprise ceremony Aug, 18 at ONT Field, according to a statement on the team’s website.
“John Shoemaker represents everything we want the Tower Buzzers organization and this clubhouse to stand for: leadership, integrity, loyalty, and a commitment to helping young players become the best versions of themselves,” said Allan Benavides, the team’s general manager, in the statement.
Drafted by the Dodgers in 1977, Shoemaker played four seasons in the organization before going into coaching. His first managerial job was with the Vero Beach Dodgers in 1987, and he managed in the team’s minor league system ever since, according to the statement.
