Todd Jorgenson has been named interim general manager of Riverside Public Utilities.
Jorgenson, who has worked for the city’s public utilities division for more than 12 years, will assume his new duties Jan. 19, according to a statement on the city’s website.
He replaces Girish Balachandran, who has been named chief executive officer of Silicon Valley Clean Energy, a community-choice energy agency in Sunnyvale.
Jorgenson has performed several jobs since joining Riverside Public Utilities in 2004, including senior engineer, principal engineer, water operations manager and water engineering manager.
He was named assistant general manager for water, his current position, in October 2015.
Ralph Andersen & Associates, an executive search firm in Rocklin, has been hired to find a permanent general manager. City officials expect to fill the position by June, according to the statement.
