Riverside to hold State of City

Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey is scheduled to deliver the 40th annual of the State of the City address Thursday at the Riverside Convention Center.

The speech, which is being produced by the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce in partnership with the city, will stress the importance of partnerships in civic life, according to a statement .

In a break with tradition, Bailey will be joined on stage by several community leaders who will discuss how partnerships have helped their businesses and community organizations become more successful.

Bailey will also announce the winner of the second annual Dr. Carlos E Cortes Award for Championing Diversity and Inclusivity. Cortes is a Professor Emeritus of History at UC Riverside.

Check-in begins at 5 p.m. with the program scheduled to start at 5:30. General admission seating is free, reserved seating $50 per ticket. The latter includes admission to the reception following the event.
