A major road-widening program in Corona is nearly finished.
The expansion of Green River Road to six lanes [three in each direction] between the 91 Freeway and Palisades Drive will be finished in about one month, according to a statement posted on the city’s website.
Construction on the project began last April, but the need to enlarge that section of Green River Road began to be discussed in the early 1990s. Twelve years ago, the project was first included in Corona’s circulation master plan.
Most of the funding for the $7 million project came from Measure A funds and the Transportation Uniform Mitigation Fee (TUMF) program that is administered by the Western Riverside Council of Governments, according to the statement.
