San Bernardino residents who wish to obtain an an accredited high school diploma and career certificate online may get help doing so from the city’s public library.
The library is offering scholarships to residents 19 years old and older in partnership with Career Online High School, which is part of the adult education program at the the library’s Jack L. Hill Lifelong Learning Center, according to city statement.
The online program provides students with virtual classrooms, personal academic coaches, and career training.
“Libraries offer a safe, supportive environment to foster learning and community,” said Howard Liebman, superintendent of Career Online High School, in the statement. “Our online education program for adults is a natural extension of library services that empower adults to learn and grow.”
The library is offering free public Wi-Fi at all of its locations, and laptops are available at Feldheym Library.
More than 27 percent of all San Bernardino residents who 25 years old or older do not have a high school diploma, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
