SB prepares for Point-In-Time Count

San Bernardino is asking for volunteers for its 2024 Point-in-Time Count, which will be held the morning of Jan. 15.

Participants will gather at the National Orange Show’s Gate 10, 930 S. Arrowhead Avenue, according to a statement.

Mandated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Point-in Time Count seeks to identify the number of homeless people in the United States. The count helps determine funding for programs and services in local communities.

“Addressing homelessness is a top priority for San Bernardino,” said Mayor Helen Tran in the statement. “We hope San Bernardino residents will once again turn out to be an important part of the solution.”

All San Bernardino County cities are scheduled to hold their Point-Int-Time Count Jan. 25. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and undergo training, either in-person or virtual, before the count. Smart phones will be used to gather data.
