The U.S. Small Business Administration is providing loans to businesses that were damaged in last year’s Fairview Fire.
Acting on its own, the administration declared an emergency related to the month-long fire after California’s request for a disaster declaration was denied, according to a statement on Riverside County’s website.
The declaration makes administration assistance available in the Inland Empire along with Orange San Diego and Imperial counties in California and La Paz County in Arizona.
The Fairview Fire burned from Sept. 5 to October 3, destroying more than 28,000 acres and forcing the evacuation of more than 1,500 homes, according to reports.
“The administration’ stands ready to help California’s small businesses and residents impacted by the Fairview Fire,” said Administrator Guzman. “We’re committed to providing federal disaster loans swiftly and efficiently, with a customer-centric approach to help businesses and communities recover and rebuild.”
