Smith joins MSJC board

Calvin L. Smith has been appointed to the Mt. San Jacinto College board of trustees.

One of seven candidates considered for the position, Smith fills the Trustee Area 2 vacancy, which represents San Jacinto, Hemet, and several nearby communities, according to a statement on the school’s website.

Smith replaced Joshua Rivera, who resigned from the five-member board in September after he moved outside the Trustee Area 2. Smith will serve the remainder of Rivera’s term, which ends in December 2024.

A San Jacinto resident, Smith has been a volunteer with the Hemet and San Jacinto unified school district’s Career and Technical Education programs, the Gettysburg Leadership Program, and the Hemet-San Jacinto Action Group, according to the statement.
