Joi Spencer has been named dean of UC Riverside’s School of Education.
Currently a mathematics professor at the University of San Diego, Spencer is scheduled to start at UC Riverside Jan. 1 of next year, according to a statement.
During her 16 years on the San Diego campus, Spencer has been an associate dean and interim dean of the School of Leadership and Education Sciences, which includes the mathematics department.
“Joi has a long track record of outstanding leadership, and I am confident she will build upon that success here at UC Riverside,” said Elizabeth Watkins, UC Riverside’s provost and executive vice chancellor, in the statement. “I look forward to supporting her as she works with our faculty to advance the mission of the School of Education.”
Interim dean Louie Rodriguez will step down Aug. 31 and be replaced for the remainder of the year by Professor Eddie Comeaux, according to the statement.
