California’s economy added about 30,000 jobs last month, although the state’s unemployment rate remained at 5.5 percent, according to data released Friday.
That was reportedly the eighth consecutive month that California employers added more people than they let go, a positive sign for the state’s economy, the Employment Development Department reported.
Leisure and hospitality added 13,600 jobs, while the manufacturing sector cut roughly 8,000 jobs, according to the EDD.
Locally, Riverside County registered a 6.5 percent jobless rate last month, while San Bernardino’s unemployment rate was 5.9 percent.
California has added more than 2.3 million jobs since the recovery officially began in February 2010, the EDD reported.
