Inland Empire job market expands

State adds jobs in November

California added 11,000 non-agricultural jobs in November, topping a revised 9,100 jobs gained during the previous month, according to data released Dec. 20.

The state’s unemployment rate remained at 5.4 percent, as the state added jobs for the 55th straight month, the state Employment Develop Development Department reported.

Except for small losses in February and August, California added non-farming jobs every month this year.  During the first 11 months of 2024 it added approximately 167,000 jobs in that category, the EDD reported.

Five of California’s 11 industry sectors gained jobs in November. Private Education & Health Services (+13,100) added the most, healthcare-related groups also posting substantial gains.

Financial Activities dropped 4,400 jobs, the largest month-over reduction of any sector. That decline was the result of a poor performance in the real estate/rental leasing sub-sector, and in some financial investment-related fields, according to the EDD.
