California exported an estimated $14.9 million in goods in January, a 7.8 percent year-over-year increase, according to a report.
During the same period, U.S. exports rose by 1.3 percent, to $172.779 billion, Beacon Economics in Los Angeles reported.
California’s share of national exports during the first month of 2025 was 9.1 percent, up from 8.6 percent in January 2024.
In comparison, exports in January from Texas rose by 2.6 percent, while Florida exports from Florida were up 3.6 percent year-over-year. Both states are similar to California in size and demographics.
Exports of products made in California in January increased by 6.3 percent year-over-year, to $9.217 billion. During the same period, the state’s exports of non-manufactured commodities rose 4.1 percent, to $1.755 billion, while re-exports increased 13.7 percent, to $3.970 billion.
“Despite being ravaged by urban wildfires and vilified by conservative politicians and pundits, the Golden State continues to outpace its rivals,” said Jock O’Connell, Beacon Economics’ international trade advisor, in a statement.
