Stater Bros. opened a supermarket Wednesday in Moreno Valley.
The store at the northwest corner of Ironwood Avenue and Pigeon Pass Road is the company’s fourth in the city, said Susan Atkinson, Stater Bros. spokeswoman.
The new store, which covers 44,000 square feet, formally opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. It’s in a former Albertsons that Stater Bros. bought last summer, Atkinson said.
“After Albertsons closed there was no supermarket in that part of Moreno Valley,” Atkinson said. “It’s something people really need. Our customers are pretty happy.”
Stater Bros., with more than 18,000 employees, is the largest privately owned company in the Inland Empire and the largest private supermarket chain in Southern California, according to a release.
