Stater Bros. Charities will ship 1,000 care packages to local members of the armed forces who are serving overseas.
Nearly 200 Stater Bros.’ employers will gather Saturday in the east parking lot at the company’s corporate headquarters in San Bernardino to assemble and address the packages, according to a company statement.
They will be shipped Tuesday by United Parcel Service. The event, which is scheduled to last from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., is closed to the public.
Stater Bros. Charities is partnering with Operation Community Cares, a Rancho Cucamonga-based organization that supports the health and
welfare of our servicemen and servicewomen all over the world.
The packages, which were purchased by Stater Bros.’ employees, are worth $50 each. They include a variety of items, including magazines, DVD’s, toothpaste, tooth brushes, coffee, popcorn and beef jerky.
Stater Bros. is the largest private employer in the Inland Empire. The supermarket chain has 168 stores and employs more than 18,000 people, according to company officials.
