Stater Bros. increases pay raise

Stater Bros. has extended the $2-per-hour raise that it gave to all of its hourly employees at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The increase, which applied to workers in stores, transportation, distribution centers, corporate offices and construction, will last through May 3, according to a statement on the company’s website.

“The spirit of the Stater Bros. ‘Family’ has always been to do the right thing, for the right reason,” said Pete Van Helden, chief executive officer, in the statement.“Our employees remain committed to helping our community during this difficult period.  Many continue to work long hours to ensure the service to our customers remains uninterrupted.

“We are proud of our team and appreciate their extraordinary efforts.”

The San Bernardino-based supermarket chain is operating daily from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the first hour each day for senior citizens.
