Stater Bros. Charities has donated more than $900,000 to the City of Hope.
Officials from the charity arm of Stater Bros. Markets Inc. in San Bernardino recently presented a $906,527 check to the the nonprofit cancer research center in Duarte, according to a statement.
The money was raised by the supermarket chain’s Kids 4 Hope campaign, which assists children with cancer. The presentation event was held at Stater Bros.’ Falcon Ridge store in Fontana. That store raised $37,501 during the 12-day campaign in May, the most of any store.
“Cancer is a difficult diagnosis for anyone, but it can be particularly devastating to a child and their family,” said Nancy Negrette, chairman and president of Stater Bros. Charities, in the statement. “We are so proud to support the great work that City of Hope does for pediatric cancer treatment, and their emphasis on addressing the long-term effects of childhood cancer.”
Kids 4 Hope has raised $2.8 million for since it began four years ago, according to the statement.
