State Bros. will donate 35,000 pounds of fresh apples to Feeding America and the Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County.
The donation is a result of Stater Bros.’ participation in the Take a Bite Out of Hunger Program, which is sponsored by FirstFruits Marketing of Washington, according to a statement released Thursday.
More than 17,000 pounds of the fresh fruit will go to the Boys & Girls Club of San Bernardino County on behalf of the Community Action Partnership, with the rest slated for Feeding America.
Those are two of the largest food banks in the Inland Empire and Stater Bros. regular donates to them, said Marisa Kutansky, spokeswoman for Stater Bros. Charities.
