Stater Bros. to replace Whittier store

Stater Bros. will build a replacement store in Whittier.

The San Bernardino supermarket chain will build at the southeast corner of Whittier Boulevard and Sorensen Avenue, according to a recent announcement.

The store, which will be part of The Groves in Whittier commercial development, will replace a store previously located at 11750 Whittier Blvd.

The full-service supermarket will cover 44,378 square feet and include full-service meat, seafood, service deli and bakery departments. Stater Bros. officials expect to break ground on the project this summer, with a grand opening scheduled for the spring of 2021, according to the announcement.

Stater Bros. is the largest private employer in the Inland Empire and the largest privately owned supermarket chain headquartered in Southern California. Late last year, the company announced it will open stores in Ladera Ranch, Ontario Ranch and Calimesa.
