Palm Springs City Manager Scott Stiles has announced his retirement.
Stiles, whose 43-year public service career included the last three and a half years as the city’s top administrator, will step down Nov. 1, according to a statement on the city’s website.
During his time in office, Stiles secured $50 million in bridge funding following the Tropical Storm Hilary emergency in 2023, oversaw the opening of the city’s homeless navigation center, and was in charge of the restoration and reopening of the historic Plaza Theatre and the Thompson Hotel.
Stiles also helped develop the city’s Economic Development Strategic Plan, and led efforts to support local businesses impacted by last May’s bombing of a local fertility clinic.
“Scott brought decades of experience, steady leadership, and an unwavering commitment to public service to Palm Springs,” said Mayor Naomi Soto in the statement, “He helped guide our city through extraordinary challenges while moving forward important projects and investments that will benefit our residents for generations.”
