Stover named Cardenas’ CEO

Eric Stover has been named Cardenas Markets’ division chief executive officer.

Currently the Ontario-based supermarket chain’s chief merchandising officer, Stover will continue to report to Doug Sanders, chairman and chief of Heritage Grocers Group, according to a statement released Wednesday.

Heritage Grocers is Cardenas’ parent company.

“Eric is a strong leader with extensive experience and vision,” Sanders said in the statement. “His promotion to division chief executive officer supports (Cardenas’) strategy and overall growth plan.”

Stover went to work for Cardenas in March 2020, having worked in the food industry for 35 years. Before joining Cardenas, he held management positions with several food retailers , including Wild Oats, Henry’s Farmers Market and Sprouts Farmers Market, according to the statement.
