Rachel Tolber has been named Redlands’ chief of police.
Tolber, who was interim chief March 1 when Chief Chris Catren announced his retirement, is scheduled to take over full-time June 12, according to a statement on the city’s website.
“I have watched her work since being appointed interim chief, and I am impressed by her leadership qualities, dedication to the city, excellent decision making and her communication skills,” City Manager Charles Duggan said in the statement.
“Rachel possesses all of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to succeed as our next police chief.”
Tolber began working for the Redlands Police Department in 1997 as in intern. She was hired as an officer the following year.
Tolber held multiple positions within the department before being named interim chief, including overseeing its Special Services Bureau, according to the statement.
