The Toro Company was honored recently for its support of irrigation throughout California and for its work with cities, water districts and the state in getting July designated as “Smart Irrigation Month.”
Assemblyman Eric Linder, R-Corona, recently recognized the Riverside-based company for its irrigation efforts, according to a statement.
For the first time since 2005, when “Smart Irrigation Month” was first launched, the governor’s office has issued a declaration declaring the seventh month of the year “Smart Irrigation Month” in California.
The goal is to increase water awareness in California and urge all state residents to practice water conservation and more sustainable water consumption, according to the statement.
Promoting better irrigation will prompt California residents to take a closer a look at how they use water and recognize that changing their consumption habits, even slightly, will have a positive impact on the state’s water supply, said Phil Burkart, vice president of Toro’s irrigation business.
“From fixing a leaky faucet to upgrading water-guzzling sprinkler nozzles or converting an area to drip irrigation, consumers can save money by making a few simple changes to use water more efficiently,” Burkart said in the statement.
