Tribal-owned logistics operation to get energy-saving solar power

The San Manuel Landing, a 1.1-million-square-foot logistics center in San Bernardino owned by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, will get a megawatt solar project that will cut the building’s carbon dioxide emissions by 21,000 tons.

Tribal officials have agreed to lease the building’s roof to Altus Power, a Stamford, Conn.-based provider of electric solar power to industrial, commercial and private sector clients, according to a statement.

Altus and Trammell Crow Co. will develop the solar project. The San Manuel Tribe and Trammell Crow developed San Manuel Landing.

Cost of the project, and a construction schedule, were not disclosed.

Altus Power develops, owns and operates solar generation, energy storage and charging infrastructure in 25 states. When the San Manuel Landing project is complete, Altus Power will have a 120-megawatt California portfolio, enough to power approximately 120,000 houses, according to the statement.
