The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Mission Indians has started two food and beverage sales tax grant programs.
Both programs are designed to help restaurants or bars on the Agua Caliente Indian Reservation that pay the tribal food and beverage sales tax, according to a statement on the tribe’s website.
“We are proud to offer this inaugural grant program for food and beverage establishments,” said Tribal Chairman Reid D. Milanovich in the statement. “Many of these businesses are family owned. We are eager to help support local businesses through these grants.”
The program offers up to $100,000 in grants for improvements to taxpayer restaurants or bars. Those establishments may be eligible for up to $20,000 in grant funds for improvements.
The two categories are grants of up to $20,000 for increasing indoor or outdoor seating, and grants of up to $5,000 for furnishings, lighting, facade and fixtures. Signs, storefront improvements, equipment, and technology upgrades, including point-of-sale technology, are also covered, according to the statement.
