Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!
This week, Ed starts off the show by recapping his trip to South Carolina for Lieutenant Dan Band Weekend. He witnessed disabled vets receiving the all-terrain track chairs that Ed and his employees raised back in February. If you care about veterans causes, you need to tune in to The Main Event this week.
Next it’s on to the surprise development of the week, that House Speaker John Boehner resigned on Friday. One of the factors in his resignation, reportedly, is the vote that must happen before October 1 on whether to fund the government for the next calendar year. Some House Republicans have said they will not vote for any bill that does not include the defunding of Planned Parenthood, in light of the recent revelations about the organization over the past few months.
“I’m conflicted at this point,” Ed says. “Do we want to base the future of the country on a social issue? I see both sides.”
Next it’s on to talking about the week’s events that demonstrated the movement to protect and defend Muslim causes at all costs. Ed has more interesting news in the story of Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old Muslim boy in Texas who was detained for bringing a “clock” he supposedly “invented” to his high school – a device that looked an awful lot like a briefcase bomb. There’s a lot more to the story than you know, if all you know is seeing Twitter posts by people who say #IStandWithAhmed. Here’s a teaser: Ahmed is not the first child in his family to be suspended from school over a perceived bomb threat. Plus, there are new revelations from the police and school district – things that will make you question everything you’ve heard about this story. You don’t want to miss it!
But that’s not the only example of Muslim extremism taking over the education system this week. In New Jersey, a school board meeting descended into chaos when a room full of angry Muslim parents were denied a last-minute request. When the Jersey City Board of Education decided not to close schools September 24 for the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, things got so out of control that officials had to order security to “take charge.” Ed plays a clip from the New Jersey NBC affiliate’s news report – a clip where a Muslim student is heard saying, “We are now the majority.” Ed’s comments on this: “As a kid in a Jewish family, we stayed home for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Guess what? You can stay home and play catch up. Muslims can do that just like I did.”
He also discusses the week’s controversies involving Donald Trump’s response to the mysterious anti-Muslim man at his rally; there is evidence that this person is likely a plant from the liberal opposition. He has been spotted at other conservative events as far back as two years ago, with comically bad t-shirts and signs – and those photos have been used as anti-tea party propaganda. Long story short, Ed agrees with those who believe this man was planted at Trump’s rally. He also discusses Ben Carson’s comments this week regarding whether a Muslim should ever be President. “You know what?” Ed says. “I’m not going to support a candidate who worships a god that tells him to kill the infidels.”
He is not happy with Carson’s walking back of his comments later in the week, but likes Carly Fiorina’s response to the same question when she appeared on The Tonight Show. “I liked the way she did it much better,” Ed says. “She was being politically correct, but she didn’t say she would support it.” He also comments on the Pope’s visit. “He came over here to talk about climate change,” Ed says. “What a crock of crap…I was not impressed, and I don’t see where that is valid, especially after he went to Cuba first and didn’t address the human rights issues there. Isn’t that what the church is supposed to be about?”
