What an exciting and provocative show coming up with Ed Hoffman and his guests this weekend. Joining him is his frequent co-host Scott McAfee with Don’s Bicycles in Redlands. Also this week, special guest, author and documentarian Dinesh D’Sousa joins Ed and Scott to discuss his thoughts and views as penned for the book and the movie – by the same name – “Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party.”
But first, at the top of the show, Ed and Scott dissect the recent Fox News Sunday interview with Hillary and journalist Chris Wallace. Ed and Scott dispute, discredit, and engage in a lively discussion on Hillary’s “abilities” to spin the facts, blame someone else and engage in “bold-faced lying” on Benghazi, her emails, the second amendment, the economy and more.
In the latter part of the hour guest Dinesh D’Sousa shares some insights into his book and documentary movie. Don’t be put off by the word, “documentary.” Co-host Scott dispels any concern that the film would be the boring documentaries of our youth!
D’Sousa’s book shares how the Democratic party got started, what is its history and how the party started in the 1820s with President Andrew Jackson. D’Sousa reviews the evolution of the party up through today’s Bonnie and Clyde-type politics of the Bill and Hillary gang. If you asked which party supported segregation, the Ku Klux Klan, was pro-slavery, debunked the civil rights act – most people would say the Republican party. But it was the Democrats!
When D’Sousa was asked why he wrote the book (and the basis of the movie) he is eloquent in sharing that he believes in the American Dream. “I come from a country (India) of liars and thieves … We need to know how our country was put together. America is more fragile than we know.”
As for the book and the movie D’Sousa says the book is the hard facts, the intellectual presentation. The movie is an experience – though it doesn’t feel like a documentary – and deals specifically with the Clintons. A key moment in the documentary is the question posed of a group of Hispanics. They asked, “How do you know when you become an American?” The answer – “When you become a Republican.”
