This week is Ed’s September 11 show, which means that the second half is devoted entirely to the events of the day that changed our nation forever. Tune in for a retrospective like no other – not just audio of the tragedy, but recaps of the inspiring moments that made us unite as Americans. Plus, Ed plays scenes from his favorite 9/11-inspired movies; if you love the movie clips he uses to start the show every week, you’ll hear several in the second half this week. The September 11 show is an annual tradition on The Main Event, and Ed considers it one of the most important things he does all year. “I hope you haven’t forgotten what happened 15 years ago,” Ed says. “People who were three years old that day will be voting in this election, and I hope their parents raised them right.”
In the first half, the show focuses on election politics as usual – specifically, on the Commander-in-Chief Forum that NBC News held on Wednesday as a kind of political scrimmage between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton to whet voters’ appetites. Moderator Matt Lauer primarily asked questions on foreign policy and the military, and Trump is getting criticism for saying that our military generals have been “reduced to rubble” under the Obama/Clinton administration. As most people who saw the forum know, Hillary Clinton did not have a good night Wednesday. She was asked repeatedly, first by Matt Lauer and then by an audience member, about her mishandling of classified information on her personal email server. Both times, Clinton answered that none of her emails contained a header stating “classified” and that she used a “wholly different server” for classified emails, which is another lie entirely. “We know she’s lying, because FBI documents revealed last week that Hillary’s classified emails were marked with a letter “C” and she told investigators she didn’t know that “C” stood for classified,” Ed says.
