Tune in to The Main Event

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM 590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national, regional and local current events, as well as trends in the local real estate market with unique, witty and irreverent flair.

This week Ed highlights the fact that people with no brains do an awful lot of talking, opening his show with a quote from the Scarecrow on The Wizard of Oz. He also likens Democrats to zombies.

Kathleen Sebelius:
President Obama delivers a farewell speech to Sebelius, offering accolades for her tenure as the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. She oversaw the Affordable Care Act, in which she came under fire when the website debuted with serious technical problems. In Obama’s speech he made it sound as if Sebelius voluntarily stepped down, but Ed offers his opposing opinion that it was a “hush” speech in attempt to glorify Sebelius in case she has information the president fears will be leaked to the media.

Sebelius’ replacement is Sylvia Mathews Burwell, who is the Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget. She brings with her impressive educational credentials – possessing a bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard University and a bachelor’s in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford University – but, as Ed points out, no real world experience.

Lois Lerner:
Lerner led the IRS department charged with approving 501(c) 3 and 501(c) 4 non-profits who seemed to be targeting companies reflecting Republican conservatism in their names and withholding their approvals.

Lerner, after claiming no wrong doing, pled the 5th Amendment right to not incriminate herself and thus charged with contempt. Ed opines that those who are innocent need not plead the 5th, and expresses his disdain of her freeloading as she sits at home receiving an enormous pension.

Ed humorously likens freeloading Democrats to his two housemates – his St. Bernard and his cat.

Clive Bundy:
A modest rancher whose family has been raising cattle since the late 1800s in Nevada has been in the news lately when the Federal Bureau of Land Management all of a sudden decided that his cattle are no longer allowed to graze on the land behind his property after they have been doing so for decades. After the BLM showed up in combat gear and attacked his cows, news spread and hundreds of supporters showed up to back Bundy.

Ed delves into the ties between a Chinese energy company that expressed a desire to purchase land in Nevada, to Harry Reid’s son, Rory and how it ties into Bundy’s situation. Ed also examines the role of development in communities.

Ed concludes with his opinion that for those of you who have money in a 401K should withdraw all your funds and invest it anywhere else but the stock market, which he is sure will inevitably crash. Be it a couple of months or years, it will definitely crash. Tune in to hear why and where you should invest your money.

Catch Ed Hoffman, host of The Main Event, on air this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with encore presentations at 9 p.m., and Sunday at 4 p.m.
