Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM 590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national, regional and local current events, as well as trends in the local real estate market with unique, witty and irreverent flair.
This week on the news Sunni militants push forward toward Baghdad, and President Obama stated that the U.S. will not be sending over additional troops to defend the country’s capital. Ed brings Nick Cowan back on the show, who served in the armed forces and was part of the first wave of soldiers into Baghdad, to offer his perspective on whether the U.S. should defend Baghdad. Tune in to hear Nick’s emphatic opinion.
Ed shares his mixed feelings about whether U.S. troops should be sent over to Iraq, but is adamant in his opinion that the swap of five Taliban leaders for one deserter was a grave mistake. He reminds listeners about the heinous crimes committed by the five released terrorists that involved live decapitations and torture to children that they posted on the Internet.
Did Obama break the law by moving forward with the swap? Tune in to hear the opinion of two judges, both of whom Ed shares the same sentiments. Obama signed into law the Intelligence Authorization Act in 2012 that requires 30-day notification to Congress before any proposed transfer of detainees at Guantanamo Bay occurs. Tune in to hear about the other law Obama broke by releasing the five dangerous Taliban leaders for one soldier who walked off his post in the middle of the night.
The five terrorists were released to Qatar, a supposedly neutral territory, and are required to remain there for one year. Ed has little faith that they will stay there, much less abstain from terrorist activity for any period of time.
Current events aside, Ed also discusses the real estate market and why it’s a good time to buy or refinance.
Catch Ed Hoffman, host of The Main Event, on air this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with encore presentations at 9 p.m., and Sunday at 4 p.m.
