UC Riverside and Cal State San Bernardino have been ranked among the top universities in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.
UC Riverside was ranked 76, tied with three schools, and Cal State San Bernardino was one of eight schools that tied for 171, according to the magazine’s recent assessment of the top 436 colleges and universities in the United States.
No other institution of higher learning in the Inland Empire made the list. Princeton, MIT, Harvard, Stanford and Yale made up the top five.
The U.S. News & World report rankings are coveted by colleges and universities and are often used in fundraising drives and recruiting. Schools are ranked based on several factors, including graduation and retention rates; social mobility; graduation rate performance; undergraduate academic reputation; faculty resources; student selectivity; financial resources for students; the average alumni giving rate; and graduate indebtedness.
