United Airlines to start Palm Springs-to-D.C. flights

United Airlines will begin nonstop flights this winter from Palm Springs International Airport to Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C.

The once-daily flights are scheduled to start Dec. 19 and operate through April 30 of next year, according to a statement on Palm Springs’ website.

It will be the first connection between Palm Springs and the nation’s capital.

“We are thrilled to welcome United Airlines’ new nonstop service between Washington Dulles and Palm Springs,” said Scott White, president and chief executive officer of Visit Greater Palm Springs. “This new route offers a convenient and seamless travel option for our visitors from the East Coast.”

Tickets went on sale May 21.

Once the Washington, D.C. flights are established, United Airlines will serve six U.S. cities this winter with 14 daily flights from Palm Springs International: it already serves Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver and Chicago, according to the statement.
