Upland company to hold Manufacturing Day event

An injection molding company in Upland will host an open house Oct. 5 in honor of National Manufacturing Day.

Precision Molded Plastics will host local high school and college students along with officials from the local business community, said Ash Brown, the company’s vice president of business development.

Thirty people, including students from the Sato Academy of Mathematics and Science in Long Beach, have committed to attend. The final number could reach 50, Brown said.

Everyone attending will get to see the company’s operation up close. Besides celebrating manufacturing and its importance to the U.S. economy, National Manufacturing Day is meant to get young people interested in a manufacturing career.

“There are a lot of good opportunities out there,” Brown said.

The event, which was started in 2012 by the National Association of Manufacturers, is held on the first Friday of October. Thousands of manufacturers host similar events every year, in the United States and internationally, according to www.mfgday.com.
