Silvia Urenda has been named Apple Valley’s top employee for the fourth quarter of 2020.
A housing and community development specialist, Urenda was recognized for her work in response to COVID-19, according to a statement on the town’s website.
“Silvia has been instrumental in creating ways to assist the community in these times of need,” said Assistant Town Manager Lori Lamson in the statement. “She has administered the CARES Act funding for food banks and rental assistance programs, and she continues to administer federal Community Development Block Grant and HOME funds allocated to Apple Valley for public services.”
Urenda was also recognized for securing Thanksgiving dinners at local restaurants for senior and disabled residents.
Urenda began working for Apple Valley as an intern six years ago. She received her award at the Nov. 10 council meeting.
