Veteran firefighter named Corona fire chief

Brian Young has been named Corona’s fire chief.

A 28-year veteran of the Orange County Fire Authority, Young’s appointment became official Aug. 10, according to a statement.

Most recently, Young served as assistant chief of operations for the fire authority, where he oversaw 72 stations. The fire authority serves 23 cities and all unincorporated areas in Orange County.

“We are honored and proud to have Chief Brian Young join the Corona Fire Department team,” City Manager Darrell Talbert said in the statement, praising Young for his expertise in planning, human resources and fire operations.

“Chief Young’s extensive years of experience and expertise with [the fire authority] will be a great compliment to our outstanding fire department.”
