Victorville reports drop in homeless population

The number of unsheltered homeless people in Victorville fell 57 percent in this year’s Point-in-Time Count conducted by San Bernardino County.

Between 2024 and 2025, the High Desert city’s unsheltered population – people living in places not designed for human habitation – went from 326 to 141, according to a statement on Victorville’s website.

Also, Victorville’s total homeless count – unsheltered and people living in homeless shelters or interim housing – went from 611 in 2024 to 448 this year. That is a 27 percent drop, and the city’s lowest homeless count in five years.

San Bernardino County conducted its Point-in-Time count Jan. 23. The results were released last month.

“By increasing access to shelter, medical care, and much-needed wraparound support services, we are helping the most vulnerable in our community find their route to wellness,” said Mayor Liz Becerra said in the statement. “We are committed to further reducing homelessness in Victorville for the benefit of our community.”

A major element in Victorville’s effort to lower its homeless population is its Wellness Center, which opened in December 2023. Since then, the facility at 16902 1st St. has helped 660 homeless people receive treatment designed specifically for their needs, according to the statement.
