Starting May 30, part of Bear Valley Road in Victorville will be closed to accommodate a bridge widening project.
The eastbound lane between Industrial Boulevard and Ridgecrest Road will be shut down from approximately 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. through June 2, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Road signs will be in place, and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes whenever possible. Anyone who must travel near that part the highway while it’s closed are asked to use extreme caution.
The lane closure is part of a larger project by the City of Victorville to improve travel on Bear Valley Road. The bridge between Industrial Boulevard and Ridgecrest Road is being widened, and a double turn lane is being added from Eastbound Bear Valley Road to Ridgecrest Road to alleviate traffic congestion at this busy intersection.
The total cost of this project is estimated at just under $10 million and is being funded through Road Development Impact Fees and federal dollars. Construction is expected to be complete this Summer.
