Walk to benefit cancer research

Stater Bros. will hold its annual Believe Walk Oct. 5 in Redlands.

More than 10,000 people are expected to participate in this year’s event, which raises money for various Inland cancer-fighting organizations, according to a Stater Bros. Charities’ release.

The event has raised more than $2.1 million since it began seven years ago. Its beneficiaries include the Loma Linda University Cancer Center, St. Bernardine Medical Center, Redlands Community Hospital and The Beloved Foundation.

“This small-town event has evolved into a community celebration,” said Jack Brown, Stater Bros.’ chairman and chief executive officer, in a statement. “Everyone is affected by cancer at some point in their lives, and it’s amazing to see how our community, the Inland Empire, has stepped up to the plate to do something about it.”

Walkers can follow a 5K or 10K route, and people are encouraged to bring their pets. To register, or for more information, visit www.BelieveIE.com.
