Walmart will lay off 953 employees at its Chino fulfillment center, according to a published report.
The employees at the 1.2-million-square-foot facility at 6750 Kimball Ave. will be able to apply for positions at other Walmart or Sam’s Club stores, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported April 20.
Walmart officials informed the state Employment Development Department of the layoffs in March. All employees who don’t find other jobs with Walmart will be released on June 2, according to the report.
The company is conducting layoffs nationwide, reportedly to reduce or eliminate some night and weekend shifts.
Walmart officials did not respond to a request for comment.
