Wapner named Mayor Pro Tem

Alan D. Wapner has been named Ontario’s Mayor Pro Tem.

A long-time member of the city council, Wapner will serve a two-year term through 2022, according to a statement on the city’s website.

The council conducted its annual reorganization earlier this month.

Wapner recently received a presidential appointment to become Chairman of the National League of Cities Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy Committee. He was also elected to the league’s board of directors.

“I look forward to continuing my work with our mayor and council team as we further Ontario’s role a premier city, innovation hub and economic and opportunity driver for Southern California,” Wapner said in the statement. “As challenging as 2020 has been for everyone, the years ahead offer tremendous promise for our residents, businesses and stakeholders.”
