Guidelines for the expansion of the Temecula Valley Wine Country could soon become reality.
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors is scheduled vote on the plan during its regular Tuesday meeting, according to a report originally published in The Press-Enterprise.
The Temecula Valley Wine Country Community Plan, which has been in the works for about five years, seeks to set an orderly long-term plan for development. It would establish rules for expansion on about 18,000 acres from Temecula to Lake Skinner, according to the report.
Despite the work that has gone into it, the plan could be headed to court even if it’s adopted by the board. Temecula attorney Ray Johnson filed a lawsuit last month on behalf of local vintners who objected to a 30-acre church property being exempted from the plan.
The suit alleges that the county engaged in “unreasonable and invalid spot zoning,” according to the report.
