New director for Riverside County Animal Services

Allan Drusys is the new director of Riverside County Animal Services.

The agency’s chief veterinarian for the past 13 years, Drusys was appointed to the position earlier this month by George Johnson, the county’s executive officer, according to a statement.

“A talented team performs extraordinary work every day in the Riverside County Animal Services Department,” Johnson said in the statement. “Through [Allan’s] active, dedicated leadership, the department will provide even better service to our communities.”

Riverside County Animal Services provides animal control and shelter for stray animals at four facilities. Its officers respond to tens of thousands of calls each year, investigate animal cruelty and provides spay-and-neuter services and vaccinations for owned pets, according to the statement.
