Barbecue restaurant opens

Moreno Valley has landed a barbecue restaurant chain. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit opened Thursday at 12620 Day St., said Margarita Tucker, co-owner of the restaurant.

“Its a great location,” Tucker said of the site at the southeast corner of Day Street and Campus Parkway. “They needed some good barbecue in this part of the city and we decided to bring it to them.”

The restaurant, which is within the TownGate Promenade retail development, has done a steady business every day since it opened, Tucker said.

Tucker and her husband Michael already own Dickey’s restaurants in La Quinta, San Marcos and Alpine. They plan to open two in San Diego, including one on the campus of San Diego St. University, and another in Perris, within the next several months.

Founded in 1941, Dickey’s is based in Dallas, Texas. It’s one of the largest and most popular barbecue chains in the United States.
