Esri releases ocean app

Esri is going deep sea diving.

The Redlands-based company, a global leader in spatial analytics, announced this week that it has released an ecological marine unit app for mobile devices, according to a statement.

The EMU app provides information on temperature, salinity dissolved oxygen and other data from more than 52 million ocean locations.

The information, which is meant for scientists, educators, governments and industries, identifies livable marine environments as well as the ecosystem’s general health, according to the statement.

For example, fishing businesses can use the app to identify areas that will harbor certain species or find locations that are likely to yield more fish. Conservation groups can use it to determine the chemical makeup of a specific area.

The EMU mobile app can be accessed for free on the App Store and Google Play. For more information visit go.esri.com/pr-emu.
