Stricter rules for massage parlors

Corona is getting tougher with its massage parlors.

A new state law that returns control of massage parlors to cities has led the city council to toughen its regulations on those businesses, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.

On Wednesday, Police Captain Jerry Rodriguez told the council that complaints about code violations and prostitution in connection with Corona’s 84 massage businesses have gone up since 2008.

The council then passed unanimously a revised ordinance that will require police to conduct background checks on massage parlor owners, perform site inspections and require parlor owners to pass a written exam on the ordinance, according to the report.
