Upland to get Sprouts

Sprouts Farmers Market, the grocery store chain that specializes in fresh produce and other healthy foods, is coming to Upland.

The Phoenix-based chain will open a 24,000-square-foot store Wednesday at 829 W. Foothill Blvd., the site of a former Office Max store, according to
published reports.

The Sprouts store will be in the Upland Square Shopping Center, which until last fall was home to a Fresh & Easy store. The market will employ a little more than 100 people and could generate between $18,000 to $20,000 a year in sales tax revenue for the city, according to the reports.

Sprouts is based in Phoenix and has more than 150 locations in nine states, according to the company’s website.
