Rancho Cucamonga is scheduled to receive $3.2 million in state funds that it will use to build a 9/11 Memorial Park.
The 1.3-acre park will be built next to Fire Station 178 on Town Center Dr. east of Haven Avenue, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Assemblywoman Gomez Reyes, D-Colton, will present a ceremonial check to city and fire department officials during a ceremony on Nov. 2 at the All-Risk Training Center, 11285 Jersey Blvd.
The park will be based on artifacts from the three terrorist attacks: steel from the World Trade Center, material from Flight 93, and material from the Pentagon, according to the statement.
